Guide to
Los Cabos

All of my favorite spots to stay, eat, drink and relax.

I've been lucky enough to shoot a number of weddings down is Los Cabos lately. Because of that, lots of people ask where my favorite spots are, which might be why you're on this page too. Below, I'm going to give you all of my favorite places to visit when I'm in town. I'm sure there are many more but these are my go-tos!

Cabo is one of my favorite places on the planet. It's a quick two hour flight from where I live in Southern California.

While I love Mexico all year around, the summer season can be quite humid so try and avoid May-September if you can. With the flights being so short from Socal, it makes it easy enough for a quick two night getaway, although you'll want to stay longer!

Such a magical spot in Cabo! For the longest time I didn't understand why everyone stays here. It's an older property and Cabo is full of new resorts that pop up each year. I finally got to stay there last Summer and completely fell in love! The service is the best of the very best, you feel like family. The grounds are immaculate! Everything is kept up so beautifully. The rooms are amazing (the shower is a dream come true) and the fact that it's been there for so long really gives it that Mexican charm. If I had my choice, I'd stay here every time.

Easily my favorite rooms in Cabo! The most basic room they offer is huge, the bathrooms are gorgeous, and if you stay on an upper level they come with a plunge pool out on the deck. I love privacy when I travel so this was the perfect place to just take a dip in the morning before breakfast or at night just before bed. Amazing. The food is insane, especially at Barria. Don't miss it. The overall vibe is pretty modern but they really maintain a Mexican flare to the whole thing so you really do fell like you're in Mexico and not just some random vacation spot. Beautiful place!

Closed down for remodeling right now but such a beautiful spot with really amazing architecture and rooms that are full of conveniences. Pricing is mid-level and honestly feels like a bit of a steal when you are there because it's so gorgeous! Avoid room service...it's basically inedible. But the food at the restaurants is yum! Highlight recommend the Mako Fries at the Mako pool restaurant. Can't wait for them to open back up!

Being an Auberge property, you know it's going to be an amazing place. I love this place for friends who want a bit of a party but in more of an upscale way (no college spring break nonsense). I wouldn't call it wild by any means, but there's just a little more 'fun' to the whole place, in my opinion. The pools are stunning and the food at Comal is heavenly. Their carne asada tacos are so addicting!

Where to stay

Ugh, this place! I'm obsessed with it! The food, the drinks, the ambiance, all perfection. And just the best service around. I actually had my 40th birthday dinner here because I love it so much. Definitely recommend going at night, the way they light the place just makes it even more special.

WHAT I ORDER:

-Tuna Sashimi
-Chicken Curry
-Noodle Prawns
-Lobster Fried Rice

Magical, heavenly spot. Maybe my favorite food in all of Cabo. I'm sure you've heard of the place, but some people skip it and I say that's CRAZY. Make a reservation in advance, and go! It's amazing. Don't freak out when your driver takes you on some random dirt road to get there. You're not being kidnapped, it's just part of the adventure.

WHAT I ORDER:

-BURRATA TOAST
-SAUSAGE PIZZA (INCREDIBLE!)
-PORK CHOP (BEST I'VE EVER HAD)
-KEY LIME PIE

A new favorite of mine. I now go every single trip down to Cabo. The place has a really cool vibe...I can't quite explain it, it's just kinda cool and fun. Not pretentious at all. I'd go for dinner, just seems better at night for some reason. Don't miss the short rib taco appetizers, I truly consider it to be the most perfect taco that I've ever had!

WHAT I ORDER:

-MERCADO MARGARITA (MUST HAVE!)
-SHORT RIB TACOS
-ARGENTINIAN FLAP STEAK WITH CHIMICHURRI
-TORO BURGER

Located in the Vdanta Hotel, this little spot is just so cool and so fun. I am obsessed with the decor here! For me, this spot is all about tacos and margaritas. I come here just about every trip and often times there's amazing live music and dancing and then others it's almost empty. Might be the times of year. But every time, it's delicious! If you're staying near San Jose Del Cabo, definitely visit this spot!

WHAT I ORDER:

-Chips and guac
-Steak tacos (they're all really good though)
-hibiscus margarita (order a double)

Where to eat

TIP #1

COVID Tests are currently required to get back into the US from Mexico, most hotels will arrange your test for you when you check in. If they don't, just ask. The tests are often less than $30/person. Super easy!

TIP #2

Keep a pen handy on your flight! You'll need to fill out some simple paperwork on your flight and they never give you pens on the plane. So unless you want to beg the person next to you on your flight to borrow theirs (and they probably won't have one), just put one in your bag or purse where you can get to it easily.

TIP #3

Skip downtown Cabo San Lucas. It's just kinda gross and touristy. I love to stay in what is known as 'The Corridor' and visit great spots in San Jose Del Cabo. Way more fun and beautiful!

TIP #4

You can use Uber! I don't know why, I was shocked when I heard it was down there a few years ago. I typically Uber everywhere when I'm down there, so much cheaper and so much easier than a cab.

TIP #5

Most every place will take US Dollars and credit cards but bring plenty of cash for tips. Come places that I have stayed won't allow tips to be charged to your credit card after dinner or after spa services so have cash on hand to take care of those folks (US dollars are fine).

A COUPLE OF QUICK TIPS

Have fun!

Let me know if you find some spot that you love to eat or stay at, I always enjoy checking out new places when I'm down there.

Hope you have the best time in Mexico!
